Salem Witch Trials.....

Little America Jr. made Daddy proud yesterday. Fucking ridiculous. What will we have the little puppets do next? Going to be a long line of dead people if we're executing everyone that commits genocide.....and I mean that in the most empathetic way possible.
And if we're so fucking generous with our time & money, how come we're not in Darfur or Namibia rebuilding...oh I'm sorry...BUILDING communities....we only play with those who tell us they have pretty shiny things behind the curtain? Or wait, is that big, shiny oily things?

In what right mind did this make sense? What was the point? Eye for an eye? The 69 year old man had NOTHING LEFT...why give him the justice of resting? Why not use him as a pawn in this cluster fuck we call...hmmm...what are we calling it these days? Is it still the war on terror or the war on religion or the war on war? Do I wear a pink ribbon, yellow ribbon or a mini noose on my lapel?

Pres. Bush is responsible for the deaths of our soldiers over there...and has ordered them to kill for what he thinks is right.....great! Hang him next!! How is this ANY different? And don't let anyone fool you, we've killed innocent women & children over there....don't let ANYONE fool you!

Randi Disclaimer: I have many friends and relatives that are in the military (heck my parents are veterans) and I respect everyone that is willing to dedicate themselves and serve their country....I really do. I don't have a problem with any of them. But even my parents disagree with the situation.

This is just so 1960's....I never thought I would live to see something like this...it seemed so barbaric to me....and using the argument of "well look at what he did"...yeah but how does that make it okay for us to do the same? This does remind me of the Salem Witch Trials....soon enough we'll be going country to country performing public hangings of those we disagree with.

Evil is as evil does...

Barack Obama in 2008!!!

I completely agree with you. Have you watched any footage? It's really creepy. The whole thing seems very archaic. It is completely frightening to me that we let this bumbling idiot run our country. I mean, no one SUPPORTS Sadam...but come on.

I would just like to say this - yes it's true, Iraq is a mess. And sure, maybe there was something better that could have been done to that old 69-year-old man (I'd like to hear what though).

But to compare what he did, to what President Bush has done - that 's a HUGE stretch. President Bush is simply doing what he thinks is best for the country and world (whether he's doing it the right way or not, history will tell).

Our 69 year old friend from the middle east did what the though was best for himself. Just ask the majoriting of his people living in poverty, all the while living next door to one of his 28 personal palaces, or the many other dozen or so palaces built for this two wild and crazy sons.

Or ask the guy's family who was forced to watch as they placed their father, husband or son into a paint chipper - simply because Sadam or one of his two sons had something against them.

You're right - President Bush is EXACTLY like that guy.

Gotta say I agree with your opinionated hubby there!

My hubby has even thought about getting out of our army and joining the American one so he can head over to Iraq and help out...and he is leaving in a little over a month to go to Afghanistan...If we don't give our soldiers full and complete support overseas, how are we supporting them? How do you think it feels for a man to be overseas, doing a job that many people could NEVER do, and to hear that people in the country that he is SUPPORTING and FIGHTING FOR think he is doing it all for a man no better than Saddam, which makes him no better than Saddam's army? He must believe in what he is doing, so we must support him or what does that make us?

Well, I have to say that I don't completely agree with ANYONE. I think that the US&A would liked to have kept Saddam alive to use him as a "pawn", the US government tried to delay the execution. You have to understand the political situation over there, it is crazy. These are countries that truly believe you are your "tribe". They also believe that it is perfectly justified to be predjudiced against, persecute, execute or commit genocide against another "tribe". This reminds me of a Star Trek episode (more on that later). Unfortunately Saddam was NOT on the winning side, the side now in power. While Saddam was no angel, neither was he the devil, he behaved as those before him have behaved. Incredibly the US decided it was time to remove him because he was becoming "too big for his britches" and he WAS becoming a destabilizing influence in an already unstable area; and his behavior was also jeapordizing our access to the oil in the area. We have ALWAYS made deals with the devil, sometimes the devil wins. This war is based on economics, but bless the general public, we are a people who need a moral victory. We can't say that we are protecting our assets and our access to the Middle East oil reserves, that sounds too..... cold. So, we tell ourselves that we are preserving democracy in a region that doesn't believe in democracy. Example our main ally in the Middle East is Saudi Arabia, a country where civil rights are non-existant. But still they are our "bff" in the Middle East because they will protect our ability to make $$ and access oil. This post is getting too long.
Katie, I respect, support and am in awe of the soldiers who will risk their lives to do whatever their government asks of them. But, I think that the government has been less than honest with our soldiers, we owe the people who are willing to lay down their lives, the truth. And the truth is we aren't trying to "save" anyone, but our way of life. And that is okay. We have made ourseves into "oil alcoholics" we can't get enough, we haven't tried to find an alternative, an oil "methadone" if you will. The world is run by big $$ and sometimes that works into our moral values and sometimes it doesn't, but when it doesn't we try to find a way to make it fit. That is why we needed to look for WMD, they NEVER existed. Saddam was a bad man, he was no better or worse than his predecessors, he massacred thousands of Kurds (woman and children). Randi, for you to say that women and children have been killed in this war is naive. This is a society that doesn't respect living, they respect death or more accurately, martyrdom. It is well known that the people we are "fighting" against in Iraq (Afghanistan, Somalia, etc.) do not respect women and children as we do and are not at all above using them to ambush our soldiers. I pray for the men and women over there, they are fighting a fight they have no say in, they are fighting a fight for many, many reasons, not all of which are noble. But they are fighting our fight and for that I am beyond grateful and will do whatever is necessary to make sure they have the BEST of equipment and the ablility to stay alive and come home to their loved ones, safe, sound and hopefully in one piece.
